The Petaluma High School Music Program has continually been recognized for excellence and outstanding achievement in instrumental and choral music over the past 25 years. The Marching Band, the Varsity and Junior Varsity Jazz Ensembles, the Chamber Choir, the Wind Ensemble, the Symphonic Band, the Drum Line, the Jazz Combo, and the Color Guard have regularly competed in numerous competitions and festivals, and have consistently been presented with sweepstakes and 1st place awards.

Our music program relies on donations through a 501(c)3 non-profit booster organization. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have lost our sources of income including Petaluma Bingo, the Petaluma Music Festival, and other annual fundraising events. In addition, the money we normally receive from the school district is going to be substantially cut. These factors have significantly impacted our ability to ensure the continued success of this award-winning program.
Our annual operating expenses average $47,000 for uniform cleaning and maintenance, instrument replacement, instrument repair and maintenance, competitions, band camp, insurance, office supplies, and merit awards. A fundamental aspect of our music program is the ability to provide enhanced musical experiences and opportunities through our additional staff members. These assistant directors strengthen and improve the students’ musical skills and techniques, provide small group and individual instruction, provide instruction for the Drum Line and Color Guard, provide additional performance opportunities in the community, assist during competitions and festivals, and support all of the daily operations of our music program. Without our additional staff members, our program will surely shrink and decline.

We will use your donation as follows:
>$28,000 funds our additional staff members to maintain our high standard of musical experiences
>$13,000 funds instrument repairs, band camp, competitions, and uniform cleaning/ maintenance
>$6,000 funds operating expenses, insurance, awards and scholarships
